Case Studies & Impact

From Awareness to Decision-Making

Since 2021, we have been supporting public institutions, hospitals, European agencies, and businesses in building their futures — in France, Switzerland, and across Europe.

APRS (Health Research Programme Agency) Health Tomorrow: Which Priority Investment Areas?

We have been supporting the APRS for nearly a year to identify health research priorities on which to focus efforts in the face of major environmental, societal, and technological challenges.

The foresight approach brings together researchers, healthcare professionals, institutions, industry players, and citizens. Through contrasting scenarios, we explored possible trajectories and their implications for research, innovation, and public policy.

We designed a multi-criteria prioritisation grid and worked on identifying ‘blind spots’ in current research. The challenge was to translate these challenges and blind spots into immediate research needs.

State of Geneva: Anticipating the Impact of Brain-Computer Interfaces on Society

Invasive or semi-invasive brain implants, EEG headsets: brain-computer interfaces are moving beyond the medical field and raising unprecedented questions regarding mental privacy and neuro-data protection.

We conducted a foresight study on these technologies for the State of Geneva: international monitoring, analysis of technological, economic, and geopolitical trends, and the development of foresight scenarios.

To open the debate beyond experts, we produced an exploration booklet designed to raise broader awareness of the opportunities and risks posed by these technologies.

European Commission - Horizon Europe NeuroClima: AI at the Service of a Shared Climate Transition

This project, coordinated by the Politecnico di Milano, creates a dialogue between citizens, institutions, and decision-makers, thanks to an AI that detects emerging trends and participatory workshops blending design, writing, and the arts. Using a foresight approach, we defined social tipping points—levers capable of triggering systemic transformations towards more resilient societies. Our criteria and examples feed the project’s conversational agent, which helps every stakeholder, from citizens to decision-makers, identify actions within their reach. We also designed an introductory course on the subject. Finally, we are managing the exploitation of results, using a transferable method to turn European research into concrete impact.

Horizon Europe OPENVERSE Foresight for Open Virtual Worlds for Europe

As part of a consortium of 12 European organisations, coordinated by the Lisbon Council, we led the project’s technological foresight. We mapped 75 virtual worlds and facilitated several workshops on usage, standards, and the potential for SMEs and start-ups. Inspiring Futures drafted the strategic roadmap and public policy recommendations for the EU, presented at the OPENVERSE Summit in September 2026.
